The South Holland Little League began in 1956 and has a rich history of building character and instilling principles of teamwork and sportsmanship. Throughout our history, we have participated in district, regional, state and national competition tournaments. In fact, our 1992 Little League boys team had an incredible season of baseball, which culminated in their participation in the World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Also, our 1996 Senior Little League girls team participated in the softball World Series in Kalamazoo, Michigan, playing teams from Russia, Mexico, and other parts of the United States.
Our South Holland Little League continues to be a fundamentally sound organization, serving our village as a major resource for our young men and women and supporting our community’s principles of Faith, Family, and Future. Little League has provided a strong foundation for Major League Baseball players and prospects, as well as major college men and women, including Mark Mulder (A’s and Cardinals), South Holland’s former Village Administrator Jason Huisman (Angels), Justin Huisman (Royals and Mariners), Liz Bouck (DePaul Blue Demons), Wally Widelski (Notre Dame), and many more.
South Holland Little League has 4 exciting divisions. There are no tryouts for little league baseball; all children are welcome to play. Opening day usually takes place in May and the season will run until the end of June.
